The Values of The Refuge @ The Lake

Values are not something you simply put on a piece of paper. They are things you truly treasure and live out. They are your convictions held close to the heart that are seen every day you live. One way to determine what you really value is found in how you spend your money, your time and how you use your talents. It’s one thing to say. I value…and fill in the blank. Let me watch you when you don’t think anyone is looking…and I will see what you value.

Our Values

The following is a list of what we still strive for to be the values of The Refuge @ The Lake. In time, we will evaluate, reevaluate and change as we are honest with ourselves.

  • The Bible: God’s Word is the standard by which we live.
  • People: All people matter to God and should be treated with patience, love and respect.
  • The Gospel: The good news of Jesus is to be shared, lived, and reproduced in all facets of life.
  • Children and Youth: Jesus always had a special place in His heart of young people. It is how we will reach the world.
  • Generosity: We practice generosity with our time, talents, and financial resources. It is our desire and responsibility.
  • Missional Community: (Connecting with God and others) This is the way we collectively live our lives and show the world who we belong to.
  • Healing: (Body, Soul, & Spirit) God cares about the complete man, including a healthy person on the inside. Thus, we place a heavy emphasis on helping people with real life issues.
  • Structure: God is a God of order and not a god of confusion. Thus, we attempt to things in an orderly way.
  • Service: Jesus modeled for us that our lives should be that of serving Him and others.
  • Growth: Making disciples is our mandate. Being disciples is our responsibility. Growing in our faith along with helping others grow is our life.
