The Vision of The Refuge @ The Lake
House Churches all around Grand Lake

The vision of the Refuge @ The Lake is to be a collection and compilation of house churches all around The Grand Lake of the Cherokees.

What is a “House Church?” House Churches are the opposite of a “Mega Church?” Mega churches are churches that have 1-2 thousand people in attendance in their services every weekend. They are mega…meaning they are gigantic. A house church is the antithesis of a mega church. They are “Micro” or small. A typical House Church could be anywhere from 3-12 families gathering weekly in homes. They live life on life together. They do ministry and missions together. They study the Bible together. They share the gospel together and practice discipleship together.

Our Vision
  • Healing: We desire to become a safe place for hurting people. This happens in missional community, but it also happens intentionally by helping people overcome real-life problems.
  • Compassion: We desire to exemplify God’s grace to humanity under God’s Word, through truth, grace and mercy.
  • Serving: We desire to be a blessing to people in this world. This includes serving our community, other churches and people in general.
  • Relationships: We desire to build bridges to engage with people. This includes by sharing God’s love through word, time, and helping connect people to God.
  • Planting: We desire to be a part of a church planting movement. We desire to be a part of
  • planting 50 new house churches and regular churches in our first 10 years of existence.
